A website generates a lot of data. A bunch of websites generate a ton of data. This data could be revenue data, visitor trends or even search engine ranking reports. All this needs to be paid close attention to. All the major figures and ratio should be consolidated in one big file to give you a good picture of what is actually happening. Eventually, trends start to appear and you start getting more involved with your projects.

I have been guilty of not having a look on my day to day site reports. I own over 50 sites and going through their stats could take a while. But I do compile revenue reports at the end of the month. I am going to make a point to add some kind of tracking on each site and compile weekly reports about traffic. Its going to be time consuming but I am sure it will be fruitful.

When you own a bunch of sites, it is not a good idea to have them tracked under the same analytics account. The data generate by google analytics is shared with the search engine quality team and hence plays a major role in how your sites are ranked. If your site has high bounce rate and other clearly negative parameters, it is in your best interest to use some other kind of tracking platform. I know it becomes a pain in the ass when you start looking at the reports but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Compile reports. Always. May it be about your upcoming projects, ongoing projects or even completed projects. Compiling reports about important parameters will show you sides and aspects of your business which you were aloof from.
